Dynamic Duo Tess and Layleh Take on Georgetown!

At Female Strong, our mission is to empower and uplift young women, providing them with opportunities that amplify their potential and nurture their growth. We are immensely proud to share the achievements of Tess and Layleh, 2026 YEA! Graduates, who have ventured to Georgetown to attend the National Student Leader Conference!

"One of the best things about our time at Georgetown were the classes and field trips. Our lecturer Lisa Tucker was incredible and very engaging, and even as first time mock trial participants it was easy to understand everything we studied. Much of the work we did throughout the week was in preparation for the final mock trial at the end of our stay, and we were split up into trial groups and given a role to play in the final trial. Our trial group leaders were the counselors at the camp and they did a great job at helping everyone become comfortable with speaking in front of a room of people. We also went on a field trip almost every day, some of the most notable being the Maryland Supreme Court, where we got to speak to a Justice on the court, the Drug Enforcement Agency, where we got to learn about the work they do and explored the museum, and the iconic Smithsonian museums, where we were allowed to choose which museums we wanted to see. Overall, the academic experience and field trips we went on made NSLC at Georgetown such an incredible experience for us.

Another part of our NSLC Georgetown experience that we loved were the social aspects. Firstly, we were immediately met by the most amazing people in our program who were interested in having genuine conversations and getting to know everyone. It was so impressive to see all of these students our age who were so passionate and could easily step up to the leadership role. These people became both close friends and role models to us, people who we plan to stay in touch with. There were about 50 people in the Law and Advocacy program and we think that NSLC did an excellent job of making sure everyone bonded, such as having small TA groups, ending up with giant group hugs. Secondly, NSLC provided us with the opportunity to meet and network with many powerful and successful figures such as the United States District Judge, our amazing professor for the week, a woman from the BAR association, and many more."
